EN 18031 asset identification is the step that makes or breaks a cybersecurity assessment under the standard — yet the definitions in EN 18031-1, -2, and -3 make it genuinely difficult to get right. The terminology is inconsistent across all three parts, circular in places, and anchored in definitions that refer to each other.
